About
Hello!
Rania here, and thanks for landing on my side of the web.
Before embarking on my journey as a travel blogger, freelance writer, marketer, and junior developer, I was, and always will be, a passionate learner.
You could say I was a bit of a nerd growing up, and it would be fair to assume I skipped school (to read more books!). Yep!
Anyway, after 15 years on the internet I realized a few things about me. One: I don’t like social media that much and two that I kept this website going (first created in 2018) much longer than I kept up posting on Facebook or any other medium. Which should mean something right?
Well for now, I’m thinking it means that I like this community.
My first few articles back when blogging was much different, led to some wonderful friends, and conversations on philosophy, books and travel.
I hope to keep that going but also provide some of the funny stories or no-fluff directions and information that someone needs when planning a trip.
What you see now, is a constantly improving platform where discussions, ideas and recommendations on self-development, travel and education are shared.
I write about the things that interest me, which blend learning with travel.
Thank you for being here.
Rania
GET TO KNOW ME
GET TO KNOW ME
- Usually I will recommend budget or affordable places because that’s what I like. But also.. taxi to the airport or waste 2 hours of travel time? Probably taxi. This has changed obviously as I got older.
- I splurge on experiences and consider it good. I’d rather save on a flight ticket and spend that money doing a cooking class, scuba diving or picking up a random hobby or activity.
- I’m obsessed with tracking. From finances to planning my business and day, my whole life lives on Notion. I LOVE Notion.
- I get excited over learning new stuff. That is also the core premise of the website. Bachelor as in degree.. as in learning or accumulating knowledge.
- I love to talk politics, money, business and conspiracy theories. It ties into my love of learning.
- I grew up in various countries so my sense of belonging was a bit out of whack, until I moved back to Greece from New Zealand.
- But.. I do consider New Zealand a second home and the place I became an adult and did all the “adult” stuff for the first time. (I mean got a car/license, worked, studied and paid taxes…of course!)
- I don’t really get excited about a new destination until I arrive.
- I haven’t had a “job” since 2019 when the pandemic forced me to go freelance to survive after moving back to Greece. I love working with clients and would continue to do so even if this website starts paying the bills (one can hope!)
- I’ve written over a dozen non-fiction business or startup related books for clients but they are under ghostwriting NDAs.
- But I’ve also self-published some educational children books of my own, that combine learning with travel. You can check them out here under the name Geologic Press.
- I have a love hate relationship with social media and try to be very selective over my viewing habits. I’ve all but given up on social media and my handles are semi-inactive.
- I prefer longer trips over short “let’s see everything fast trips”.
- But I will say yes, if you say “let’s drive 10 hours to go check out something tomorrow”.
- I love guided tours and tour guides. Probably because I work as a tour leader and have been around a ton of amazing tour guides. I usually recommend tour guides for most locations in Greece because I’ve seen how a tour guide can change your perception of a place.
- I struggle with gifts and gift giving or receiving. I’d rather someone buys me an experience to do together.
- I’ve always wanted to do a relocation cruise in the off season from Europe to Latin America. I did a container ship journey for 27 days from Singapore to Europe once because I wanted to see the Suez Canal. (I was one of the last people allowed to do it before covid)
- Even though I love adventure I’m scared of speed, heights and the ocean. I will still do the thing.. just scared.
